The NEM Migration Board this Friday revealed Additional information about preparing for the launch of the long-awaited Catapult update.

According to the latest information, test network for the new version of the protocol will become available on November 27, and activation on the main network is scheduled for February-March 2020.

Catapult is being developed since 2016 year, however, the activation dates for the update are constantly being postponed. It is assumed that the launch of Catapult will significantly expand the capabilities of the main NEM blockchain due to flexible settings of smart contracts, as well as increase its performance and scalability. Developers and users hope that this will lead to increased demand for NEM in enterprise applications.

The NEM Migration Committee reports that in recent releases, the developers have prepared a desktop wallet and blockchain explorer to work with test network Catapult. The company also says it is in talks with exchanges to support the upgrade and is receiving an "encouraging" response from them so far..

Most supernode holders are expected to participate in discussions about moving to Catapult. Mostly they see Catapult as an update, but some of them see it as a "new start". The latter are supported by the leading protocol developers.
