UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) Joins Growing Number of Regulators to Issue Official Warnings Regarding Initial Token Offering (ICO).FCA reports on its website that ICO is a “highly risky speculative instrument” that is not regulated in any way, which means that FCA cannot protect investors.
In its warning, the regulator encourages investors to report any suspicions and advises them to "thoroughly study the potential benefits and problems underlying the technology used for ICOs", for which it leads link to own distributed ledger technology talk.
Thus, the FCA joined the list of regulators that have expressed their concerns about the ICO, which have already included the US Securities Commission, the Monetary and Foreign Exchange Control Service of Singapore, the Canadian Securities Administrator, the Malaysian Securities Commission, the Bank of Russia, People's Bank of China and Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission.
Recall that earlier FCA took part in the creation of an application for recording collateral transactions on the R3 Corda blockchain.
