Craig Wright Refuses to Enforce Agreement on Claim for Half a Million Bitcoins
Australian entrepreneur and self-styled bitcoin creator Craig Wright has announced that he cannot enforce an agreement with the family of his former business partner Dave Kleiman..According to documents filed in Florida District Court on Oct.30, Wright withdrew from an agreement to settle claims for half of the intellectual property and bitcoins he and Kleiman mined prior to 2014. After the agreement is canceled, the trial will be resumed.
Dave Kleiman's brother, Ira, has filed charges against Wright for 2018 year, claiming that he was manipulating business papers, email and other documentary evidence of fraud.
Earlier, Wright was unable to provide the court with a complete list of Bitcoin addresses, which, presumably, should contain the amount of 1.1 million BTC. He also stated that he could not access these bitcoins due to the death of Kleiman and the use of a complex encryption scheme..
“The discussions started at Craig’s initiative, who said he had sufficient funds to secure a settlement,” said prosecutor and Roche Freedman LLP partner Velvel Friedman..
Wright's next hearing with the Claymans is scheduled for March 30, 2020.
